Preparing to Leave: the DAY OF

Here I sit at my uncle's computer. I feel horribly guilty for not writing on this blog yesterday, or the day before, or the day before that. It was only three days, but three very important days.

What happened on Friday:
Woke up early at 7:30
Went to my last French class at Westfield High
Took photos with the period B class (which I
then managed to DELETE!!!!!!! Nooooooooo!!!!)
Worked a little bit on packing...did some stuff...
Went grocery shopping with mia madre
Had a big "farewell" party at my house
Stayed up late
talking with Trevor and Heather while Tim was asleep on my couch.

What happened on Saturday:

Woke up early at 8:00 and headed to Greg's house for Breakfast
Went to the mall with Trevor (who had broken into Greg's
house and slept on his couch without turning on the heat the night before!!!), Natalie, and Kelly
Went to 'On the Border' with them + Adam

Went home
Finished packing

Went to Adam and Mary's reception-thing
Went home and started boxing things in my room for storage
Went to Katie Black's party at Greg's house. We played 'Entertainment', p
hase 10, and ate a lot of food
Transfered all my files to my new computer
Kept on packing
Went to bed late

What happened yesterday, Sunday:
Woke up early, 7:45ish
Had breakfast with my family
Went to church
Taught my last gospel essentials class
Came home, took a shower, did some laundry
Trevor came to my house
We ate lunch

Straightened my hair
Got a Priesthood Blessing from my dad
Left for New York City
Got here
Talked w/ my relati
ves
Saw Ground Zero
Said goodbye to Trevor
Talked more w/ relatives
Went to bed

Yesterday was an amazing day. I felt calm. It was weird - nothing has sunk in yet. I guess I really am leaving, but I can't register that. I can't process that. It's strange.

I thought that saying goodbye to Trevor (my best friend) would be the hardest part, but it wasn't. The anticipation of it was worse than saying goodbye. I think it may have been because the way he said goodbye wasn't final. "You know how to reach me, right?" Also, I'm starting to get excited by this trip, so I think that drowns the sadness of goodbye. It was strange to talk on the phone w/ my parents, late last night. I didn't feel like I was gone.

We went to Ground Zero with Krista. It was an experience. This computer is the Stephenson family computer, and I don't want to install the driver it would take to download my photos from my camera to the computer, but there are some awesome photos to be seen very soon!

The Stephensons live in the perfect part of New York City. Battery Park, in a nice apartment (1200 square feet, I learned, is pretty big). You can see the water from the window, but it is walking distance from DOWN TOWN. On the way here, we found ourselves in Chinatown. Poor Trevor! Both of our first time in the down town part of NYC, and he had to deal with crazy black vans without any lights on driving in his blindspot and a map with horrible directions. We both had a blast, though. Trevor is from Harwinton, CT - when we got into China Town he turned to me and said, "This is HELL. When I imagine Hell, this is what I picture." Hehe.
8 million people on one freaking island. That's more than the entire population of Massachusetts. I feel like I'm from the country, but Westfield really isn't "country". Hmm.

Today, Krista has the day off! She's going to take me around this town - I think getting real New York Pizza is on the list of things to do. I am a little bit paranoid about going to Central Park; after all, my favorite show is Law and Order, so every single image associated with that place (besides "A Troll in Central Park" the kid's movie) has to do with murder, blood, and rape. Hmm.

Next time I post, I will probably be out of the country. Goodbye USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Kate - you might be interested in this: http://www.mormon-blogs.com/ It's a directory of LDS authored blogs. They call it the bloggernacle (hehehehe) and it's a pretty good place to list your blog for others to see.

I miss you already! Also, thanks for posting that pic of Adam and Mary. I didn't get to see them, and she looks gorgeous! That makes me happy inside.
